Malachite Farm is owned and operated by Karen Giles on 75 acres of fields and woods with a couple of ponds on the property, trails, hay fields, and out buildings in Vassalboro, Maine . This farm originally was run as a dairy farm and also had a laboratory for breeding purposes of the herd.
Karen recently purchased this farm, vacant, in December of 2006 with all the hopes & dreams one person could possibly have and more. Karen has many ideas and will be putting all these ideas into motion throughout the years. Karen came to Debbie Flood in October of 2006 with the idea of running Equine Art Workshops on the farm. And so the NEEAE was formed. The NEEAE is it's own entity and will be renting workshop rooms from Malachite Farm. NEEAE may also be rented out to other farms that may wish to have Equine Art instruction at their own location for horse camps and more.
The Malachite Farm will be running many programs year round.  The list below is a highlight of what is on the planning board and some things are already in motion.

1. Horse riding Camps for kids. Riding lessons and instruction, already in process.
2. Spiritual healing, already in process.
3. Many non~equine art workshops for children & adults. Already in progress.
   
4. Programs for children in the arts.
5. An observatory in the open field for star gazing and for educational programs, such as Tangle~Wood, to bring in children for educational purposes. Also, to host art exhibits on the walls inside.
   
6. Children Art exhibits.
7. Spa/retreat
8. Gift shop
9. Leasing rooms to area business, possibly t-shirt/printing so orders can be placed on the farm and delivered that evening.
10. Rooms built above the workshop building to rent out with at least one nice room for a Honey~moon suite, or a nice husband & wife vacation. Also Instructors may rent the rooms. There should be enough space for 10 rooms and bathrooms for each room, or two rooms per one bathroom.
    
11. A petting zoo.
12. Kennebec River runs past the farm, river raft or canoe tours or both.
13. Library next to a garden for relaxing reading or sketching or just "being".
    
14. Work with Autism and other disabilities using horses. A trained woman in this field will be working at Malachite Farm and she is also in the process of learning more about Autism.
15. Workshop rooms will be rented out to instructors who would like to come to the farm to teach their profession in the Arts or anything that specializes in the well being of others.
16. Programs for home schooled children & public school children.
    
17. Winter activities will also be happening. Holiday themed projects.
    

A 30 hole golf course sits next door to this wonderful, spiritual retreat.  And plenty of lakes with camping, swimming & fishing near by.
