A Bonus for Building Clubs in Early May

Convention 2012Did you forget to register for the International Convention before the early bird deadline? Never fear, there is still an opportunity for savings! There is some work involved, but the rewards go beyond saving a bit of cash!

You can earn a complimentary registration for Milwaukee by building a New Club!

The first 3 New Optimist Clubs built in May will qualify for a free Convention registration! One person from the build team will be given the reward of registration to Milwaukee, in addition to the long term rewards of seeing a New Club make an impact in the community for years to come.

May has already arrived, but you could still be the first to Organize a New Club this month! And if you're not first, then maybe you'll be second, or EVEN third. Now's your time to achieve this lofty goal in "Bringing Out the Best in Kids."

**The free registration will go to 1 key builder, as determined by the Field Representative or the Governor.

Where's Your Sign?

Optimist Road Sign

Dear OPTIMIST,

Does your Optimist Club have a road sign? Optimist road signs are a great promotional tool for your Club. It's a visual way to let the community know about your Club's presence. Optimist International wants to help you spread the word! Every Club* that recruits ten (10) new Members from March 1 through May 30, 2012 will automatically receive an Optimist road sign.  Attracting new Members to your Optimist Club can be a fun and exciting project for your Club! An extra set of hands helps your Optimist Club stay healthy and active in your community.  Consider one of these strategies to recruit new Members:
  • Utilize social networking web sites like www.Meetup.com and www.Facebook.com to find community-minded groups and individuals that are looking for ways to give back to their community.
  • Host a NOW program and invite potential Members to learn more about what your Club does for your community. Show potential Members the benefits they will receive from joining. For example, how working in a community provides an opportunity for personal and professional growth.
  • Use the Coffee Recruitment program to get to know a potential Member by asking them about their volunteer interests.

Most importantly, keep up the great work you do to "bring out the best in kids!"

*Chartering a new Club during the promotion will qualify the sponsor Club. Friends of Optimists count as Members. Limit one sign per qualifying Club.

Pick Up the Pace

Pick Up the Pace is a membership recruitment program developed by the International Membership Committee for the 2011-2012 Optimist year. The program is a series of incentives that are aimed to help motivate, inspire and encourage Members to recruit new volunteers to help in our mission to “Bringing Out the Best in Kids.”

PACE stands for passion, action, commitment and enthusiasm and the monthly incentives are divided into four groups based on this acronym.

The October 2011 opening incentive is called 'The Challenge' and is sets the pace for the remainder of the year. To go along with the theme is an Optimist Hunting License that each Member can carry with them to remind them that there is always a time to find a new volunteer.

Optimist Hunting License

Printing instructions: Download the .doc or .pdf version of the Optimist Hunting License and use Avery Two-Side Printable Business Cards. Instructions are included in the box and will work with an manual feed printer.
