Faces of Love Series
Faces of Love is a series of paintings I began in conjunction with my local animal shelter. The first time I visited the shelter I was appalled that they did not have more room for the animals nor the money to expand the facility. Sick cats have to be put inside cages in a closet (the door of the closet is removed) because that is the only way to separate them from the rest of the cats so viruses don't run rampant throughout the animal population. If you are visiting and want to see how well you would get along with one of the animals before adopting, there is no room for you to spend quality one-on-one time with your potential pet, making it much harder to get to know the animal and make a wise decision concerning adoption.
I realize that I may not be able to raise enough money to be able to fix the above problems, but I would like to raise as much as I can to help them out. Thus, this series was born out of my desire to help the shelter. The shelter allowed me to go in and do some photo shoots of the animals to paint. When I finish painting them, I will be holding an art show to sell the paintings. At least 40% of the proceeds from the sales of these paintings will go directly to the shelter.
Concerning the paintings - there are two types of titles on the paintings. The names of the animals (if known, some animals did not have names at the time of the photo shoot) are in the titles of the paintings. However, next to the animals names will be one of two terms:
A Memorial - means that the animal in the painting was euthanized.
A Celebration - it means that the animals were adopted.
I let you know which animals were euthanized for a reason. Many loving animals do not make it to a good home. I want you to see the faces of the animals who did not get adopted and had their lives ended because not enough people cared. I want you to see how important it is to give these animals a chance at happiness and love, perhaps for the first time in their short lives. You will find that adopting a pet is a very rewarding and heart warming experience.
If you see a painting that you would like to purchase, please contact me! Every penny helps these animals in need. The sad thing is, these animals did not ask to be in this situation. Most of the animals are very sweet, friendly, and extremely lovable. They need homes and love as much as we do, so please help out if you can!!
The paintings in this series will be posted below as they are completed. Each of the animals stories will be posted soon. You can follow along on any painting that is in the process of being painted, if you care to, by clicking on Currently on My Easel.
