Ezines as Opt In List Builders
Genesis Davies
If you are trying to up your number of subscribers, an ezine is a good way to go. Creating an interesting, informative ezine isn´t hard to do and it goes a long way toward building trust as well as your opt in list.
An ezine gives you a way to make sure your name stays fresh in your subscriber´s mind. By providing him or her with constant information, you build trust, which is vital when you are trying to sell something to someone else. A trustworthy webmaster will always earn more than those who just try to sell as fast as they can, providing little or no information.
People will sign up for your ezine if they find your website interesting and informative. Keep offering that kind of quality in your weekly (or monthly) emails and they won´t unsubscribe.
One good way to encourage visitors to sign up for your ezine is to offer free bonuses to those that do. You might offer a free report or ebook or even a short video. Exactly what you offer will depend on what your website is about, it should be related.
If you have your own original content, say a list you´ve compiled of over 200 free article directories for an internet marketing site, that would be the best thing to offer. Otherwise, there are lots of free ebooks and lists available with resell rights. Just do a search for "free ebook resell rights" on Google.
You want to get your ezine in front of as many potential subscribers as possible, so you´ll need to market it outside of your website to get maximum exposure. There are several methods of doing this, some free and some that cost a bit of money.
- Write an ebook. You can put together useful information in an ebook that is then given away. Include your website address and a short blurb on your ezine at the beginning and end. If you want others to spread your ebook around (otherwise known as viral marketing) include brandable affiliate links.
- Write articles. Free articles submitted to free article directories are a great way to get free publicity. Include your ezine auto responder address in the resource box.
- Ezine directories. Most ezine directories will list your ezine for free, so it´s worth submitting to them. It might take a while, but it will certainly get you more subscribers.
- Ezine ads. Try putting an ad or two into other similar (but not directly competetive) ezines. This might cost you some money, but if you get enough subscribers, it will be worth it.
- Offline. Make up some simple business cards on your computer and hand them out every chance you get. You never know when someone you meet in the "real" world will be interested in your products or information.
You´ll probably think of a few more ingenious ways to promote your ezine as time goes on. The idea is to have as many people as possible see it. The more that see it, the more will sign up and the bigger your opt-in list will be!
