Keep Those Subscribers
Everyone focuses on getting more subscribers to their opt in list. That is important, of course, but what about the ones you already have?
Making sure your current opt in list subscribers don't unsubscribe is just as vital to your business as bringing in fresh blood. After all, they say a person has to see an ad 7-10 times before they will buy the product, so you need them to stick around at least that long!
The longer your subscribers stay with you, the more they trust you. As we all know, trust is one of the most important factors in the whole sales process. No one buys from someone they don't trust.
So, what can you do to keep your current opt in list subscribers loyal? There are a few tried and true methods out there.
- Give them a sneak peek. If you publish a newsletter, give your subscribers a list of what to expect in the next issue. Make it look interesting enough and they won't dare click on that unsubscribe link!
- Offer freebies or discounts to subscribers. Once they realize that they can get great offers just by continuing to read your emails, they'll stick around. You might offer a free ebook once a month to subscibers only, or even talk to other website owners about letting your customers have a special discount on their product.
- The best way of all to keep your opt in list from shrinking is to give them what they are looking for. If your list is aimed at single mothers who need ways to save money, give them that information. Add links to websites that you have personally checked out and found helpful. Why would anyone unsubscribe from a list that is giving them valuable help?
- Limit your ads. If all your opt in list subscribers are getting are hyped up spam emails, they won't stay on your list for long. It's important to offer them good, high quality information. When you want to sell something, include a list of tips that relate to the product you want to sell.
- Give them a reason to keep opening your emails. Running a contest is a great way to make sure people stay subscribed. Announce the contest in one email and over the next week or two, you can build up the excitement, listing how many entries you've received or announcing bonus prizes. Then, finally, you give them the big result! Throughout all this you would be promoting your website or products (hint: offering your own products as prizes is a great way to promote. In the last email, just say "Didn't win my ebook "How to Start Your E-biz For Free"? Buy it now at a special discount.)
- Respond to their emails. You probably get quite a few emails from your opt in list and some of them might not be that nice. There's no need to accept stupid remarks or insults, but you should respond to any other emails, whether they are critical or not. Often a personal note will hook a subscriber back in when he was about to unsubscribe.
These are just a few ideas you can use to keep your subscribers loyal to you. Treat them well, and they'll stay around.
