Dearest Mae,

Our deepest condolences to you and your family on the passing of Paul. You won't believe this, but Rom and I remembered the two of you when I accidentally found Paul's business card while fixing out travel documents to go back to Houston. Rom immediately said he will try to get in touch with Paul when I showed it to him only to find out that he has moved on.

I remember teasing Rom how Paul took a liking to him when we first met at the shuttle station in Archstone last September, 2008. I always say, "Maybe you remind him of a child of his". The two of you were very gracious and kind to offer us rides and direct us to places like the Hong Kong market or just to check-up on us. You two made us welcome in a city that was new to us. Thank you for everything.

We pray for Paul's soul and will offer mass for him. He is in a better place now.

God bless you and your family and may He give you peace and strength now and always.

Sincerely,

Rom & Angel Rosales

I didn't get to know Paul for very long, but the short time I spent with him was a very special time. Paul made me feel like I was part of the family and always wanted to know how I was doing instead of telling me how he was doing. We would always have our "Optimist" conversations late at night because we were both up late. I especially remember the last nite of my year as Sec/Treas and Paul called me several times that nite counting down the hours before my year ended and the years before his ended. We were laughing because I got to celebrate that nite in his time zone first, then my time zone, then Venus's time zone and he called me each hour to congratulate me and raise our glasses in a toast. He was a great man and will be sincerely missed.

I first met Paul many years ago at Dillard's and yet every time I've met him since he remembered me, and showed an interest in what I had been doing. No matter what was going on he always had a smile on his face. and a sense of humor. My wife and I were saddened to hear of his death. I only wish we had learned of it sooner so we could have attended the memorial service in El Paso.

I am a jeweler and I first met Paul many many years ago through a mutual friend who was a jeweler at the time. I bought gold coins from Paul. But it wasn't about the coins. It was about the great conversations that we had every time I saw Paul. The best memory I will have of Paul is being at his house to watch the Texas Tech VS UT football game last year. What a game and what a happy night it was. Paul will always be remembered as a GREAT MAN and FRIEND.

Paul was one of sweetest, kindest men I ever met. Even though I did not know him very long, he made me feel that I was the most important person in the room when we were speaking. A true gentleman. Greg and I will miss him very much.

I don't know where to begin to express my deep sympathy for the loss of your beloved husband and father, but to say that I truly am very saddened by this news and by this great loss of our beloved Paul.

He was truly a courageous and brave man during his illness and still working to help his fellow man and his optimist family in all he could. I have many fond memories of Paul and I would have done anything to help him during his year as Governor! I will truly miss him as an Optimist but more as a friend that I dearly loved.

Mae and family, God bless you and guide you through this hardship. I agree with Sandy Wooten when she says that we all better persons for having known Paul because he was an important part of my life and

Mr. Quon I will always remember you helping Mae out at the Parkland Football games. You were there so often the Mr. Endlich gave you a radio and put you to work. You always had a kind word and a wonderful smile. You were one of my favorite people. Im glad you will have no more pain and that you're up there looking out for us. We're the selfish ones because we want you here, but you're in a better place. Thank you for the person that you were, you and Mae raised wonderful children and you will be greatly missed.

Dear Mae, Neal and Erin:

When a special friend and family member leaves this earth, it is difficult to separate the sadness from the joy. We know that Paul would not want anyone to be sad, but rather to celebrate this special time. We can't recall a time when Paul did not have a smile on his face or shared a special thought…even during his illness. Remembering Paul and the person he was helps us to celebrate his life’s accomplishments - success in business, the love for his family and friends. We will always remember Paul as being a good friend, thoughtful, kindhearted, determined and definitely, an optimist. It has been a privilege to know Paul and he will always be with us.

Have a safe trip, our friend, and we'll see you again in our Father's home.

God bless.

Dear Mae & all the Quon Family,

Victor and I were so blessed to be able to spend time with Paul and Mae at the OI Convention in Dallas '08. Our favorite picture from that convention is of Paul and Mae with us. When we saw Paul at our district conference following that convention he was delighted that we gave him a copy of that photo. The warmth and kindness from Paul was captivating. We are new to this area and belonging to our Optimist club and getting to know the wonderful people is a blessing. Paul was a wonderful example of love for God, family, and service. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Paul's family. We will keep his beautiful memory in our hearts always.

Dear Quon Family,

My sincerest Condolences on the passing of Mr. Quon. I remember him as a very kind soul. In my friendship with Neal over the years, I remember calling Neal’s home in El Paso to inquire about him when we lost touch and I had long conversations with Mr. Quon. Sometimes we talked for hours and it was always joyful and filled with laughter. We had a spiritual connection and we’d talk about God and life. I lived in Hong Kong for a few years and we’d share what we loved about Hong Kong and what we didn’t ;).
My experience of this beautiful man was the he was so compassionate, real, soulful, open and accepting, loving and sweet. He was unique and One Of a Kind. I will always remember him as an inspiration of love and kindness.

My heart and love are with this family. May abundant peace be with you at this difficult time.

Love a gentle hug,

Diane Gidley

Marlene and I had the distinct pleasure of getting to know Paul and Mae last August during the NM/WT Optimist Convention. From the minute we arrived (late at night) Paul was an exceptional host. Our stay in El Paso was one of the most treasured memories we have. Paul was so gracious and fun to be with. He treated us like we were his best friends. It was easy to see why the District had chosen him to be their leader. It was also easy to see that he was a wonderful man who truly cared about others and who dearly loved his family. We felt a special bond with Paul and Mae and looked forward to the time we would see them again. We saw him again in January in Myrtle Beach and, although he was not well, he was as happy and fun as when we first met him. We will always cherish the fact that for a short while we knew Paul Quon and were among his long list of friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Mae, and with your family. Thank you for sharing Paul with the rest of us. May God bless you and keep you until we meet again, and until we all see Paul again.

Dear Mae and family,

There are no words to describe what a wonderful person Paul was. He will always hold a special place in our hearts since we were privaleged to work along side him with the NM/WT District. The Optimist clock that he gave me(Kim) at the 2nd meeting that we hosted in El Paso will always be very special to me. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you or your kids (they are beautiful by the way).

We Love You,
Bobby, Kim, Shaylene and Tori

I remember Paul as such a great support for Mae while she served as Asst. Principal of Parkland High School. Any event going on, Paul was there--especially football, he would walk the sidelines, keeping the peace as well as cheering. Paul with Mae provided an extra "hand" in monitoring and supervising the games. Believe me, when two or three events were going on between field and gyms, we needed the extra pair of eyes. Thank you Paul for being a friend.

Hi Mae, Neal, and Erin:

My prayers are with you at this most difficult time.
May Paul rest in peace now, and know that his spirit is surruunding you in your grief. Paul has joined Aunt and Uncle Quon now and is smiling.
May the wonderful times and memories help sustain you and remeber that Paul would not want you to mourn too long so you can celebrate his life!
Take care - Cousin Donna on behalf of the Interlicchia Family
