INTRODUCTION

As a Physical Therapist, I have seen and treated countless patients with back problems and among this back problems Low Back Pain has been the most common.

Most people suffer back pain, some are so severe that it incapacitates them, at some point in their lives. Fact is, low back pain is second only to headache among the leading causes of pain. There is no specific category as to subjects who suffer back pain more frequently than others, that is: laborers are affected as often as office workers and men as often as women are.

Back problems are not only painful but also costly. Each year many working days are lost because of back pain, and aside from that, the patient has to spend lots of money for diagnostic procedures and treatment.

These topics about back pain would be very helpful for you to be able to understand the anatomy of the spine, causes of back pain, diagnostic procedures, how to prevent it and some of the medical treatments rendered to patients.
