Sheffield Oaks 0 - 10 Dinnington 2nd XV

What a tough fixture  - what a great but disappointing result!

Sheffield oaks first team once again impressed but failed to capitalise on some great rugby during their fixture against Dinnington 2’s. A good start from Dinnington saw them pressurising the Oaks line but some great work defensive work kept Dinnington out and kept the game square. As the game progressed Oaks started to come out of their shell and run the ball at Dinnington and worked their way out of their own half on several occasions. Some excellent work from the back row saw Dinnington repeatedly frustrated and half time drew in with the scores still level.

However after the break Dinnington came out strongly and after a 5 metre scrum they managed to squeeze in the corner for the try which was converted. However Oaks were rallied by this try and began some excellent attacking play running at Dinnington from all over the field and only some great defending (and no less than 4 dropped balls at key moments, you know who you are!) stopped the Oaks from crossing the line. Despite a penalty for Dinnington the Oaks continued to push hard at Dinnington right to the final whistle and probably deserved more than the final 10-0 scoreline.

Man of the match: Alastair Worsley for some superb running from the centres.

DOD: Stuart Whitely for throwing the ball forward when through on the try line. (The ball was slippery and he did have to get through another 3 player to get to the line!! Still it was a head in hands moment) :¬)
