Dinnington 2ndXV 22 -26 Sheffield Oaks

Sheffield Oaks maintained their early season form with another away win in a friendly at Dinnington.  Here is a rough idea of how it went down....

Oaks took two tries from driving mauls both credited to Andy Selkirk (no one else is claiming them, and I'm not about to argue), a break away try from Adriano Lucchesi who supported a break up the blindside by Bonzo, and a wonderfully improvised penalty move saw Darren collect his first points of the season. Before the game Geoff was voted the player least likely to make a hash up of place kicks, and to his credit converted 3 of his four attempts.

Oaks could easily have picked up more tries as the pack showed to be more than a sum of their parts time after time shoving the younger men backwards only to be held up over the line. Darren and John Eyre tackled around the fringes to hold back the marauding back row players from Dinnington, who were given more chance to run when scrums were depowered in the second period.

The one down side was an ankle injury to Selly which is likely to rule him out for three weeks. Special thanks must go to Paul who was recruited from a nearby pitch to make up the numbers for Oaks.

Man of the Match - Geoff Crossland

Golden Moment - Darren's try. A behind the back flick from Stenny lead to Frets drawing in two defending and offloading to the stand in number 10 for an easy run in from 20 yards.

D.O.D. - Darren again for some interesting kit selection.....

Quote of the Day - 'This car park is a proper penis extension isn't it?' - Graham Bulmer on seeing the wide array of 4x4 and alloys outside the clubhouse.

Player Most Conspicuous by Their Absence- Johno Gelsthorpe

Player Most Disappointed by Johno's Absence - Dave Mitchell

For All your Crane Hire Needs - John Danks

Oaks are back in league action next week with Wetherby due to visit S6.
