Adwick le Street v Sheffield Oaks 12 - 0 Loss
M.O.M - Frets. Great breaking runs from the forwards and backs. The man was every where... wait until his calf gets 100% better!! (we have been waiting 2 yrs but we live in hope!!)
D.O.D - To actually go to play the game.
Quote of the day - Lyndon - What happened to them? Did they wake up and see the weather today?
Magic Moment - Wheh the loaned hooker was nearly sent off for descent and aggressive play against his own players!!
At about 1pm a flurry of texts and calls came through scuppering our plans to take on Adwick and win. Despite this we all met up despite in initial air of gloom and doom Frets perked us all up up with a joke or two and the we voted to go with 11 men and see what happens. Unfortunately we didn't have enough front row players and had to throw the match but with an excess of players Adwick loaned us their three smallest forwards and we were underway.
To the uninitiated Adwick's forward pack and front row are all the from the cast of Shrek (other than our own Lee Tysoe) and considering our front row was made up of Chick and two of the opposition we didn't have much of a chance in the scrum or line out. True to form we were pushed all over the place in the scrum and didn't win many lineouts and after 10 mins we were 5 behind. And were soon again defending our try line and it wasn't looking good. Not ones to lay down and turn over we sorted ourselves out took it to them in loose play and fought back into their half and pressed their line. Unfortunately for every scrum we got it was just turned over and soon we were back in our own half due to a strong head wind and some well placed kicked. Defending well it was only a small lapse that allowed Adwick to thread a player in for one under the posts for the last points of the game.
From here on some aggressive fighting for the ball, especially by the loaned hooker, and some great runs from Frets allowed us to stay in the game and dominate loose play. Unfortunately two charge downs from Bully drifted into touch before he could get to them and a few handeling errors allowed Adwick to take the game with no points scored against them.
Well done to the guys who went. We would have won with a full compliment that said the guys who went gave a great effort and made a great game of it!
Cheers.
