Sheffield Oaks 15 - 27 Sheffield Medicals
After taking a short trip across the city, Sheffield Oaks started a little hesitantly against Medics. However, when the pack started working together, Oaks really piled on the pressure winning scrum after scrum against the feed. Unfortunately the pressure was only converted into points once - when Dave Mitch steamed over the line. Unfortunately the referee forgot to go to spec savers and Andy Selkirk didn't get to stretch his position as top scorer further when he had his try disallowed. He also smashed Hazza's dreams after the hooker's blinside break down the wing was pulled back for an alleged forward pass.
In the second half Medicals either had an inspiring team talk or fielded an entirely different team as they came out full of beans and started to hold their own. Following a failure to dominate up front Medics used their backs to capitalise on Oaks own lack of pace and experience in the backline to run in a number of quality tries to steal the game.
In an entertaining game Sheffield Oaks pushed right to the end but the fitness of the Medicals and their pace in the backs proved to be too much.
Man of the Match - A hard one.... the entire forward pack were great but Bully for his little bit extra.
Golden Moments - When the entire pack decided to show the Medicals gobby No 5 what they all though of him with their boots! And seeing the true pace of Azza unleashed as he screamed down the touchline with dreams of glory!!
D.O.D - Goes to the medicals No 5 who though picking a fight with Frets and Selly was a good idea.
