Mosborough V Sheffield Oaks AWAY - 13 - 32
Verdict - Great all round performance
Man of the Match - Graham Bulmer
Golden Moment -Bully's second interception try. "I never realised I caught it."
A beautiful Indian summer's day greeted us at Mosborough for another derby showdown! With few new faces and untested bodies Sheffield Oaks threw themselves into the 2007/08 season. Playing uphill against a well drilled regrouped Mosborough was never going to be an easy opener. Sure enough Oaks' preparation was duely rewarded through a number of errors leading to a soft try in the first 2 minutes.
Not to be deterred Oaks dug their heels in, using their experience and skill well to start to pile on the pressure. After pushing the Mosborough line for a good period an encising run from Tom Whyat-erp-Jones put Stuart Whiteley in the corner to open the points. The pressure continued through out the half and after some unfortunate spot kicking combined with some inventive play and quick thinking by Paul Crookes put Andy Selkirk, over with Jim Feetham converting just before half time.
Early in the second half some open, free flowing, inventive rugby put Stuart Whiteley over again. Mosborugh, not wanting to go down without a fight, put Oaks on the defence and scored again to put them within reach. After a period of gritty play by both teams the nail was put in the coffin for Mosborough by Graham Bulmer, who, in the space of 5 minutes, scored an amazing intercept and then a charge down try. Sean Heath's conversion ended an excellent performance from all players.
