Dr. Sheng S. Zhang (Shengshui Zhang) is a Research Chemist in Sensors and Electron Devices Directorate, U.S. Army Research Laboratory. His current research interests focus on development of advanced materials for electrochemical energy storage devices, which include rechargeable lithium and lithium-ion batteries, electrochemical capacitors, and double-layer capacitors. One part of his research activities is to formulate novel liquid electrolyte for operation of lithium-ion batteries in a wide temperature range (-60oC~80oC). Most recently, his research interests have become involved in assembly and evaluation of large-size Li-ion batteries and their modules for applications in hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and military applications.
