Bio

Sheona Hamilton-Grant is a Scottish graphite artist living momentarely in Belgium.  Ever since she can remember, Sheona has been surrounded by both horses and dogs.

She uses these years of experience, of loving, caring and working with horses and dogs as a mentor and guide.

It was after graduating from business school and with her brand new BBA under her arm, that Sheona decided to leave the city and go and work with horses. This took her to the heart of the European equestrian world.

It was during the time she was working for Germany's Dressage Gold Medallist Nicole Uphoff and mingling with the world's equestrian elite that she encountered a new dimension, a new power to the equine world she had always known.

The mesmerizing presence, grace and strength of world class sports horses made her realise just how much her childhood fascination had grown into a passion.  This gave her the dedication and inspiration necessary to begin her artisic study of horses.

Sheona became a commission artist initially specialising in sports horses and their owners dogs.  Today her work can be found in private collections throughout Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Italy, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Artist Statement

"I draw in pencil. In black & white, realistically, gracefully and truthfully.

I use sharp graphite pencils and no backgrounds as this enables me to focus entirely on my subject.  Black and white allows me to get to the essence, show emotion, it does not distract the way colour can.

I like to think of my work as pure and simple yet real enough to mirror the authenticity and magnitude of my passion"
