Adding Media Files (Flash, Video, Audio)

MacromediaTM Flash, audio and video files can be embedded inside the Text and Image element on any SiteKreator page. Each media format provides different options, but they are all added using the same interface:

  • Open the Text and Image editor
  • Click Insert Media icon

  • You may upload a file from your computer or provide the URL for your media. To upload a media file, click Browse and locate the file on your local disk. Then click Open or double-click on the file name. A message "Uploading file" will appear.

  • When the file upload has finished, a placeholder for the media file will appear. The placeholder shows the positioning of your media file on the page.

  • Submit the Text and Image editor and Publish the page. You will need to switch to end-user view (by logging out or opening a new browser) in order to play the media file.

After you uploaded the media file, you can further set its properties by clicking on the media placeholder. The media options will appear on the right.

  • File / URL field allows you to select the source of the media file. Below the field you will see a list of all media file formats supported by SiteKreator.
  • Video Size (available for video files only) will allow you to specify the width and height of the media file. If you click on the padlock , this will lock the aspect ratio so changing one of the dimensions will automatically recalculate the other. Keep in mind that if Show Controls is checked (for audio/video files) you need to increase the height with the size of the controls.
  • Autoplay (audio/video files) sets the media to play automatically on loading of the page.
  • Show Controls (audio/video files) allows you to display the standard Play/Stop/Forward/etc controls of the media player.
  • Loop Movie (audio/video files) allows for looping the movie infinitely.
  • Flash Size & Quality (flash only) lets you define the size and quality of the flash movie. Clicking on the padlock will lock the aspect ratio. Lower quality will allow playing the flash over slower connection.
  • Flash Background (flash only) sets background behind the flash. Click on the color picker to choose color or check transparent if you wish your flash animation to have no background.
  • Wrapping Style lets you define how the text will wrap around the media file.
