Pointing Your Domain with GoDaddy

If you haven't registered a domain yet, you can follow the instructions for registering a domain with GoDaddy. Pointing your domain to our IP from GoDaddy's website will complete the necessary steps to make your site visible under your own registered domain.

Before proceeding with the points below, please make sure you have already filed your registered domain in the Site Properties of your website.

1. Login with your account at GoDaddy.com, go to your "My Account" page and select "Domain Names" > "Manage Domains" option from the top navigation.

2. Locate the domain name you wish to modify in the Domain Name column.  Check in the Status column if the domain is Locked.  In order to be able to make updates, you will first need to unlock it. To unlock a domain, select the checkbox in front of it and click on the "Locking" button from the domain management toolbar.

3. In the "Set Locking" panel which opens, select "Unlock" and press "OK". Allow a few minutes for the changes to be processed.  Once the status is updated, click on the domain name.

4. A panel with domain properties will open. In the "Name Servers" section, make sure you are using GoDaddy's park servers.

5. Now scroll down to the "Total DNS Control" section and follow the link "Total DNS Control and MX Records".

 6. At the Total DNS Control Panel go to the line for the "A (Host)" record and press the Edit icon  from the Actions column. In the dialog that appears you should fill in the IP address 72.20.110.40 in the "Point To Ip Address" field. Press "OK".

 7. In the "CNAMES (Aliases)" list go to the line for the "www" alias and make sure it is set to point to "@" as shown in this snapshot. Press "OK".

Your setup is ready now. It may take up to 48 hours for the DNS propagation around servers to be completed. After this period passes, visitors should be able to access and browse your site by your registered domain.
