Chris, originally from New Jersey, has resided in Columbia, SC since 1966.  She is retired from the SC Sheriffs' Association and is married to Dr. Robert Carlsson, Retired Professor of Economics at USC.  

They have two grown children and two grandchildren.

Chris received a B.A. in English with a minor in Art History from Douglass Residential College, Rutgers University. In her 40 years of painting in watercolor and oil she has studied under the following South Carolina artists: Sandra Turk. Robert Mills, William Powers, Angela Bradburn, Judy Jarrett, Anna Kay Singley, Anne Hightower Patterson White,

Blake Morgan, and Michael Story. She is a member of the Trenholm Artist Guild and the Seven Oaks Art League.

Chris has exhibited at South Carolina State Fair (Professional); Trenholm, Crooked Creek and Seven Oaks Artist Leagues’ shows; Columbia Museum of Art with the Lexington Artists (2005) and the South Carolina Watermedia Show (2006). Chris has received several purchase awards including awards from Colonial Printing & Sonoco Products. She won Best in Show, Crooked Creek Show, in 2001.
