Overview
Source Loop maintains a proprietary telecom rate database housing the rate elements correlated with contract terms and conditions for telecom services. We leverage this data to gain visibility into the current market conditions for the communications network services of our clients. Such visibility strengthens your position during the telecom contract negotiation process and secures the most competitive rates available relative to market.
Data
The Source Loop telecom rate database houses data comprising local, long distance, and wireless telecom services; the telecom pricing for this data is driven by contracts for all of the major telecom providers. Our telecom sourcing professionals lever this data during the negotiation process to inform all stakeholders of expectations. And it’s the insights garnered from this powerful telecom market intelligence that often makes the greatest difference in terms of driving down telecom rates to their most competitive levels and driving up your organization’s telecom return on investment.
Benchmarking Analytics
Source Loop's telecom benchmarking service provides enterprises with a 20/20 view of the current market for telecom services; quantifies renegotiation potential; and provides recommendations on telecom negotiation strategy and terms and condition content. With our telecom rate database and telecom library of recently executed telecom service contracts, we transform this vital business intelligence collateral into actionable telecom rate benchmarking information that is customized for your telecom organization through the following process:

Step 1: Create a Situation Book
In order to establish a telecom universe of services to be sourced, what we refer to as a ‘Situation Book’ must be developed; we create a comprehensive inventory of all of your organization’s telecom services from various information sources such as internal client data to telecom provider supplied data extracts. The Situation Book becomes the basis for telecom sourcing activity and bid evaluation throughout the entire telecom procurement process. Some of the telecom service components included within the Situation Book:
- Circuit, port and PVC counts by speed/CIR/type, etc.
- Voice usage trends broken down by service type/jurisdiction/access and egress types/rate schedules, etc.
- Advanced feature usage by feature type.
- Voice and data access facilities by speed, type, etc.
Step 2: Evaluate the Situation
Upon completion of the Situation Book, we reexamine your telecom network to ensure we fully understand your telecom network service requirements and the drivers behind your enterprise’s current telecom spend.
We then evaluate your organization’s telecom network situation relative to current telecom market conditions. We will explore ways to drive short term operational efficiencies and reduce telecom network costs via alternative telecom services and technologies but we never lose sight of the fact that the long term health of your telecom network is contingent upon an informed and strategic long range plan (3 – 5 years).
This long range telecom network plan must consider the trajectory of anticipated business growth, appropriate network application investment, and awareness of technology trends etcetera. It’s critical that we fully understand both the past and present in order to make the best long range decisions for your organization’s telecom network.
Step 3: Conduct Analytics
Once the business needs for your telecom network have been determined, Source Loop identifies the target set of telecom services from the appropriate provider set that will form the basis of the telecom benchmarking exercise. We lever our telecom contract database application to populate the appropriate analytics templates for our analysis.
This powerful telecom application allows us to produce fully functional analytics models that are used to depict various types of scenarios and relationships germane to our benchmarking process and are all included within one application.
The set of analytics offered to support our telecom benchmarking process include the following:
- Individual service rate benchmarks where weighted average rates from contracts matching the client’s service and spend profiles are compared to the client’s weighted average rates.

- Savings projection calculators that allow the user to toggle various savings projections based on statistical data uncovered during the benchmarking exercise.

- Full terms and conditions review identifying the appropriate terms and conditions to include and those to avoid. Existing contracts will be redlined to provide more appropriate language to replace existing faulty language.

Step 4: Recommendations Readout
The last component of the Telecom Benchmark Analytics service offering is the readout with the client’s executive team. The analytics developed for the client are presented and discussed to ensure the client fully understands the opportunity facing them.
A detailed review of the recommended telecom negotiation strategy and the telecom benchmarking process, as well as terms and conditions are discussed to ensure a successful negotiation outcome.
