Goal: Promote permanently affordable housing for low and moderate-income families, while reducing the number of vacants and helping to stabilize fair market housing in the Belair Road corridor.
Approach: To create a community land trust or similar shared-equality vehicle (see example below), seeking partnerships withother entities that will obtain, develop, and manage permanently affordable housing.
Core values: Everyone has the right to housing that is affordable, habitable, secure, and accessible, and the right to economic and community development that produces this. To realize these rights housing and community development must be
- Universal: include everyone, each according to his or her need and talent
- Participatory: Consistently seek the participation of all affected by development
- Be transparent and accountable to the people
- Equitable: Enable equality of opportunity and outcome, prioritizing populations and communities with the greatest need for affordable housing
