Vicente Pazmino has lived in Panecillo, Ecuador, his entire life, and he has dedicated much of his time and energy to the betterment of his community. Along with his father, Francisco Pazmino, he was instrumental in the acquisition and installation of the Panecillo Regional Potable Water System, which serves five communities. Vicente has served as secretary of the system and also as operator for many years. He has also served as president of his community and worked in many ways to bring improvements and opportunities to his fellow villagers. He began working with Tandana Foundation Executive Director Anna Taft in 1998, when he was her host for a volunteer experience and helped her in implementing secondary projects such as reforestation, enhancing a library, and making improvements to the school building. He has been working with Tandana in a volunteer capacity since the beginning, assisting in the coordination of service projects, the placement of volunteers, and the arrangements for experiential education scholarship recipients. In 2007 he was hired to oversee Tandana’s scholarship program in Ecuador. In this role he keeps all of the scholars and their families informed, purchases school supplies and uniforms, controls all expenditures, and monitors student progress. His dedication to helping others and the integrity of his work are great assets to The Tandana Foundation. Vicente and his wife, Cecilia Sierra, have four daughters and four grandchildren.
