Monthly Meeting

March 2, 2011

 

Rudy brought meeting to order at 7:05 pm.

79 people in attendance.

Welcome – Guests

Rudy made several comments and announcements that are described below:

Old Business –

Recognized numerous people would provide their time and talents to support wood turning and club activities – Ed Bice, Bob Winter, Bob Varner, to name a few. 

Member donations ($20) can be paid to Sandra or on the website via PayPal.

The Southern States Symposium will be in April.

Wood Show is March 18, 19 and 20

Ellsworth Demo – March 26th -- $20 per person

New Business –

Rudy described the need for club brochures and business cards.  He proposed we purchase 1000 brochures and 1000 cards – the cost would be about $700.  The motion was made and passed.  Jim Smith and Rudy are working on the materials.

Rudy described Ruth Ireland’s national turning project and asked that we donate $100 to the cause – the motion was made and passed.

Buy-Sell –

Don Avery mentioned that a friend had passed and that he had many tools for sale.  Those interested should contact Don.

Bob Winter has rosewood available.

Don Doyle has a bandsaw for sale, and is interested in building a rose engine lathe.

Minutes from Last Meeting –  The minutes are available in the book at Tim’s desk and online.

Treasurer’s Report – Sandra was note in attendance. 

Raffle – Several items were awarded during the raffle. 

Show & Tell – Several members brought items to display and discuss. 

Demonstration

Richard Joyner did a demonstration of his “Pendant Jig.”  It was a great demonstration and we all enjoyed the project.
