The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Dennis Perez.  After a quick photo session conducted by Dick Jacobs, the meeting promptly went into a demonstration by Al Selke regarding the ease with which he uses Poly Wipe for either Satin or Glossy finishing on he woodworking projects.  It is available at Home Depot, Loews and other stores that handle woodworking products.  He inicated that after sanding with the 400 grit, he applies Poly wipe using soft paper towels and usually applies 6 coats with one coat a day being the norm.  Members were free to ask questions and discuss the process at the break.

A warm welcome was extended to the following guests:

Todd WINTON (Cocoa Beach), Wayne BAKER (Clearwater), Mike HUTCHISON (Seffner), David WORMAN, Eric LOCKLEAR, Richard HESS, Dick JACOBS (Florida Westcoast Turners) and John SALES (Tampa).

There were no minutes to be read from the last meeting, however, it will be my pleasure to take pen in hand and serve you for the rest of the year.  Many thanks to the previous Secretary Amos Carreiro.

Bill Meukel gave the Treasurer's Report:

NEW BUSINESS

In order to get right to the Sharpening Session, the business meeting was brief.  It was suggested that, in light of the very abundant treasury, it would be feasible to bring in one of the many out of town demonstrators.  It was mentioned that Pat Hess had been looking into some possible guests and Denis would get any information from her.  Membership was remined to get any raffle tickets at the break.  There were numerous magazines provided for the taking as well as pamphlets for John Campbell Folk school and the upcoming Georgia Woodturners Symposium.  All members were reminded to check to make sure they were current with their yearly dues.

Bob Winter indicated that the Westcoast turners were having Cindy Drozda as a guest demonstrator in October.  One of the members brought a box of interesting wood scraps free for the taking.  As a reminder, the cypress and cedar pieces at the raffle tonight were from a central Florida location.  It was mentioned that we should get a group together to try and save this huge amount of wood because at this point in time, it was destined to be periodically dumped in a land fill.

Reminder: next month's meeting will be the quarterly competition.  This quarter's challenge:

The GOBLET !  Let's see how Joe has inspired everyone.

BUY and SELL

Bill queried the members as to how many were in need of and would benefit from a group/club order of Timberwolf band saw blades.  Members were asked to let him know since the order would yield a good discount if the demand was sufficient.  It was also mentioned that that Robert Saw  rewelds band saw blades since one of the members had asked.

Bob Winter indicated he had Norfolk Island Pine and East Indian Rosewood for sale this evening.

RAFFLE

The usual exciting items were raffled during the break and a great time was had by all.

The business part of the meeting was adjourned and all attendees were invited to observe, ask questions and even get in on the sharpening of their wood turning tools.
