November Meeting Minutes
November 4, 2009
Meeting brought to order by Rudy Lopez at 7:03 pm. 64 people in attendance.
Pat Hess and Don Watson were excused as they were unable to attend.
Welcome and Introduction of visitors
Minutes of last meeting – Secretary not present, but see minutes on website
Treasurer’s Report – Nothing new but we have enough to afford the Christmas party (about $5300)
Business –
2010 Donations are requested.
Florida State Fair – George Dinsmore provided update – Entry forms must be mailed prior to Dec. 11, 2009; but entry doesn’t need to be done at that time. $2 entry fee per item and it includes free admission to the fair. Bob will be taking over next year.
Glenn’s Party – Free Ranging Organic Swine BBQ; Everybody bring a dish and any speciall drinks they may want….; Starts at 1pm.
Christmas Party – Chinese Exchange will continue; A turned article will be exchanged (must be wrapped); Food – Catering will be provided and people will bring in desserts and appetizers; December 2, 2009 at 6pm.
County will be charging $20 per hour for the building going forward. It was agreed, that at least for now we have no better alternatives.
Jimmy Clewes will be here at the end of Feb or first of March – two club event (Largo and our club).
Grants for Florida Symposium – Jan. 15-17th – 5 grants of $200 each will be awarded; Thirteen names were put into a bowl and a drawing was held to determine who would receive the grants. Awardees include: Jackie Cronin; Chris Hass; Don Avery; Lynn and Alice Edwards (1); Buddy Blain. Alternates – First Alternative is Fred Hoffman and Second Alternate is Ed Bice.
Rudy moved to have two boys from the Boys Ranch attend the symposium (about $260 each); Tim G. seconded the motion – motion carried.
Bob – Items for auctions for the symposium – results in educational funds for the club.
“Empty Bowls” – Tampa’s Second Harvest -- Nov. 19th – Gaslight Park in Tampa; $10 donation; includes lunch; And you get to pick a bowl. Silent auction for bowls.
Buy Sell –
Copy Crafter -- $75
Shirts – Navy Blue, White, etc. $25 each and $5 stays with club.
Pepper Mill Contest – 18 pepper mills were entered into the contest. participated; Bruce won!
Raffle Demonstration – Al Hockenberry – Hollow Form from Citrus (orange)
