The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Dennis Perez.  

 

 Minutes from the last meeting are available at TCWT.org.  

 

TREASURER'S REPORT:  Balance $3996.79                                        

Income      250.39                                         

Expense  -  86.75                                

New balance   $4160.43 

 

$1000.00 is earmarked for Scholarships for the Lake Yale Symposium   OLD BUSINESS:   Keep in mind that the Symposium at Lake Yale is the source of fund raising for scholarships and learning opportunities.  Please search your shops and garages for items that would be suitable for the auction.  Bob Winter will be officiating,  

 

Dixie Biggs will be a guest demonstrator on Saturday October 18, 2008 from 09:00 to 3:00p.m.  The fee is $30.00 or $35.00 at the door.  Lunch will be provided.  Contact  Bill to make your payment.  

 

November meeting will be selection month for the new officers.  

 

REMINDER  November 15th will be the annual BBQ and Turning Event at Glenn's home.  Be sure and mark your calendars.  Lots of turning advice and good food.  Bring a covered dish or desert, your tools, and a healthy appetite

 

 The Annual Florida Woodturning Symposium will be January 9 through 11th, 2009 at Lake Yale.   

 

Guest demonstrator John Jordan will be presenting at our facility on January 17, 2009.  Fee to be determined.   Don't forget your AAW dues are $45.00 for 2009 and are due by 12/31/08 in order to be included in their national directory of members. 

 

Voting is ongoing for the next year's Board of Directors through October as stated in your ballots.   Tri County dues are $20.00 and should be paid before 12/31/08.  

 

NEW BUSINESS:   There was a discussion as to having a "Beginner's" category for the quarterly contest.  Concensus of opinion is that it would be very difficult if not impossible to define "Beginner" hence the contest should remain as is.  All members are encouraged to participate as it is meant to be a learning exercise to promote practice and participation.  

 

Thanks to Ken Mattis for yet another truck load of free wood.  

 

Nominations for interim treasurer were called for and Glenn Plockelmann and Pat Hess were co-nominated until a new treasurer is voted in for the next year.
