Cory is a seven year old male corn snake whose owner moved out of the country and couldn't take him with her. He is very friendly, a great eater, and very beautiful. He has never bitten and is used to being handled. His adoption fee is $60.00 and includes a hide and water dish. | | Ruby is an extremely friendly 1 year old female albino African Pygmy Hedgehog. She enjoys being handled and running around and is great for having her nails clipped. Her adoption fee is $100.00 and includes her wheel, dishes, house, a fleece blanket and some toys. | | Ashes and Cloves were surrendered due to their family having a new baby and no longer having time for them. They are still young and in good health. Cloves (left) is very friendly and enjoys chin rubs and being held for short periods of time. Ashes is a bit grumpy but should come around with love and patience. They must go together! Their adoption fee is $100.00 which includes a bag of hay, dishes, a water bottle, some toys, and a fleece blanket. | | This gorgeous girl is a Costa Rican Stripe Knee (Aphonopelma seemanni) Tarantula. Her age is unknown. She eats very well and is quite active. She isn't jumpy or overly aggressive but we wouldn't suggest handling her. Her adoption fee is $40.00 which includes all of her supplies. | | These two male finches are approximately three years old and are best of friends. They roost together, prean one another, and need to find a home where they can stay together! They are very active and enjoy flying throughout their cage, picking at rafia and leaves, and swinging on their swings. If you can give them a home together, their adoption fee is $15.00 and includes a cuttlebone, dishes, and some toys. | | This pretty pigeon is a banded homing pigeon who got lost and was taken to the Edmonton Humane Society. They managed to track down his breeder but they no longer wanted him. He isn't injured and would be a good addition to any hobby flock. Only those that consider each pigeon worthy need apply... we don't want him ending up with another careless person who doesn't care if he gets lost! Adopter must have a flock he can join, he's not tame and would not be happy as a single bird. If he's not adopted, he has a flock here to live with. His adoption fee is $15.00 | | Catou is a 1 year old female rabbit with cute white toes and a white tip to her tail. In her foster home she had a lot of time out of her cage with her sister, but now she's a bit upset that she's back at the rescue. She has been a bit testy and aggressive since her arrival but we're hoping she'll come around. She will be spayed shortly. Her adoption fee is $60.00 | | Poor Peter and PJ were re-surrendered after their adoptive mom could no longer keep them, so this is their second time at the rescue! Peter is approximately 3 years old and PJ is only 1. They are big, friendly boys who love to sit on your lap and eat lettuce while watching a movie. Their adoption fee is $25.00 and includes a large Igloo hide, a food dish, and a water bottle. | | Birch is a beautiful Common Boa Constrictor, approximately 8 feet in length. She was surrendered in a bad state (see our 'Recent Rescues' page for her story) but has come a long way! Although she still has weight to gain, she is now eating a large rat regularly and voraciously. She's very friendly and seems to enjoy warm baths in the tub. We believe she is ready for a new home, ideally one experienced in snake care. Her adoption fee is $100.00 and includes 3 large rats and some silk plants. | | Cujo is a 2 year old dwarf hamster that truly suits his name! Sugar-coating his personality won't do him any favors; he is a meanie! He will chase you down and latch on. He is definitely not a good child's pet, and would be best for someone that loves to watch and doesn't mind not having a handleable hamster. He is very active and curious, and loves to explore his cage and toys, and run on his wheel. He is great fun to watch and always on the go. If you are interested in giving this little guy a home, his adoption fee and entire set up (15 gallon aquarium, lid, wheel, toys, food, etc) is $15.00. | | Harvey and Stan are two male Guinea Pigs who came from very different circumstances! Stan was rescued by a concerned individual from a neglectful petting zoo, and Harvey was surrendered by his owner after being well cared for. Poor Stan is missing one of his eyes due to bullying at the petting zoo, but he doesn't let it stop him from enjoying life! Harvey is approximately six months old, and Stan's age is unknown. He is likely a couple of years. They get along very well and are always together. They love to come out and run around in the play room. If you're interested in providing them a new home, their adoption fee is $25.00 and includes a food dish, water bottle, large igloo hide, and toy. | | Todd and Wallace are two young brothers, under a year old, the offspring of Sophia who gave birth to them on the street. They are very sweet and curious bunnies who come running to the front of the cage when they see you coming, and follow you around the room when they're out and about. Their adoption fee is $80.00 for the pair or $50.00 each which INCLUDES their neuter surgery, which prevents unwanted aggression and urine spraying! | | Sophia and Nina are mother and daughter. Sophia was found with her five beautiful babies as strays and brought to the City Pound, who contacted us. They are very friendly and curious, and love running around and exploring. They're easy to get back into their cage, just open the door and coax them in with treats! They are very attached to one another so we would prefer they go together. Their adoption fee is $100.00 for the pair, or $60.00 each, which INCLUDES their spay surgeries. Spaying is very important as it prevents unwanted pregnancies and the very common occurence of uterine cancer. | | Peaches is a beautiful young Ring Necked dove. We don't know if she is actually a girl; she is to young to tell just yet! She isn't hand tame, but she's not fearful and is, of course, very gentle. She would love a home with another single dove to befriend. If you are interested in providing Peaches with a home, her adoption fee is $15.00 and includes dishes, a swing, a small bag of seed, and a small bag of grit. | | | Sam is a Mitred Conure who was surrendered by her owne. Although the person who surrendered her loved her a lot, she was not always able to provide the best life for her. Certain things were out of her control but she did the best she could under the circumstances. She showed how much she cared for her by surrendering her to a rescue so she could have a more stable environment. Same has plucked nearly all of her feathers, but she has been like this for over 10 years; she came to her previous owner in this condition. There are a number of reasons birds pluck, including boredom, loneliness, improper diet, exposure to cigarette smoke and toxins, stress, etc. Once birds start plucking, it can be very difficult and sometimes even impossible to ever stop them, even if the bird is otherwise in perfect health and being kept in ideal conditions. Sam also shows some stereo typical behaviour, such as rocking and turning circles and is in love with her reflection. Sam has been examined by an avian veterinarian and has had extensive blood work done. She was found to be in good health but with a slightly raised Uric Acid level. It was so minor that the vet believed that a change of diet and environment would be enough to correct it. She will be tested again prior to adoption to ensure that she is not experiencing any issues with her Kidneys. Although she's lacking in plumage, she's not lacking in personality! Although she needs a patient and understanding person to gain her trust, she very obviously WANTS to be friends with people...she's just a bit nervous. She enjoys coming out of her cage onto her playgym, and she's quite adventurous in our bird room. She is very interested in meeting other birds. She is slowly spending less and less time with her mirror, and more and more time acting like a parrot. Although she has the typical hoarse voice of a Mitred Conure, she also has a variety of whistles and 'song bird' noises that she enjoys showing off as well. If you're interested in providing a home for Sam, please contact us for more information. | | Hades is a 2 year old Black and White Argentinean Tegu who has been through a lot with us! Please visit his page on the "Current Rescued Animals in Need" page. He has now recovered successfully from his ordeal and is on the lookout for a new home! He is quite friendly once he's out of the cage and will only get better with increased one on one attention. He has a voracious appetite, eating rats, mice, chicken hearts/gizzards, whitefish, banana and melons, moistened timothy and alfalfa hay cubes, pigeon eggs, deli-fresh dog food, beef heart, snails, and pretty much anything you offer him. He's picky with veggies though! He requires a VERY large cage, at least 12'Lx4'Wx4'H in size. His adoption fee is $40.00 and includes his plants and logs, hide, and two heat lamps. | | Vida (Standard) and Mira (White Pied) are two beautiful, peaceful ringneck doves. We believe that Vida is a male and Mira is a female. They are in love and need to go to a home together, that will be diligent in removing their eggs and replacing them with wooden dummy eggs to prevent reproduction. They love to come out of the cage and fly around, and are easy to catch. They usually just let you pick them up, and depending on their mood, they'll sit on your hand or let you pet them. They are very gentle and never bite. They need a large cage that allows for flight, and are perfect for aviaries with finches. They currently live in an aviary with four zebra finches. If you think you can offer them a loving home, their adoption fee is $30.00 and they come with a small bag of food and two dishes. | | | | | | | | |
