Zen

Zen grows as a Buddhist teaching. Originally it comes from China where the Mahayan Buddhism meets  Taoism. Later it is spread in China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. In the last two centuries it became very popular in the West. Zen is considered more like a philosophy than a religion. For some

it is a way of life and work. As a philosophy it can be related with Confucianism and Taoism. At the same time it is not strongly related with the religion and that allows non-Buddhists to practice it. In fact as a philosophy Zen is acceptable even for atheists. It is hard to explain the essence of that teaching. Zen is more connected with practice or condition. If you don't have experience on it you will not understand it. It is a teaching for the simple things, and how perfect they are.

Personally I get it like an admiration of life. Joy of those simple things like brewing a tea, or walking, or even brushing your teeth.

"All beings by nature are Buddhas, as ice by nature is water. Apart from water there is no ice; apart from beings, no Buddhas."

Hakuin Ekaku
