Seascapes, Cornwall and the North Norfolk coast: Vivien Blackburn
Paintings of Norfolk and Cornwall: Working in oil paints, watercolours and mixed media, mostly plein air, looking at the specific light, weather, mood and colour of the day. Sometimes the sea is grey and steely but with hints of pale viridian and mauve. Another day it may be a vivid deep blue. The wet sand may reflect mauves and pinks - it's never the same and changes rapidly as clouds and time pass.
In Norfolk the coast is flat with dunes, salt marshes and the tide goes out for miles. Cornwall has wild Atlantic breakers, rocks and high cliffs and the tide doesn't recede too far, leaving pools and patterns carved by the wild surf. Both are interesting to paint in their own way but my first love is Cornwall, where I lived as a child.
