Presenter Responsibilities Summary
GENERAL
• The Art Space Gallery is available for exhibits, presentations and performances by YSAC current members. Individuals may
become members with the express purpose of presenting in the Art Space.
• The Yellow Springs Arts Council carries insurance for our Art Space Gallery, however, we also suggest that artists contact their
insurance agent for appropriate coverage.
• Presenters receive an Art Space key, which must be returned to the following address immediately at end of showing period:

• The YSAC Art Space Gallery Terms of Agreement must be reviewed and signed before presenting in the space.
YSAC MEMBERSHIP FEE
• A $30 individual/artist fee is due upon acceptance to present in the Art Space. No fee to current members. Make checks payable to
The Yellow Springs Arts Council and submit with signed Terms of Agreement contract.
• Group show organizers must hold a membership, however individual artists within their show may not be members.
• Presenters are solely responsible for transactions, monetary or otherwise, in relation to their work.
• Solo or paired artists agree to donate one piece of original artwork or 15% sales commission to the YSAC.
RECEPTION AGREEMENT
• Presenters agree to hold a reception event on the evening of the 3rd Friday Fling that coincides with their show (6-9pm.)
• Presenters are responsible for preparing refreshments for the event, including wine and/or alternative beverages.
• The YSAC will put out a donation box during 3rd Friday Fling receptions, proceeds benefiting the YSAC.
GALLERY OPEN / GALLERY SITTING
• Visual artist who present in the Art Space are strongly encouraged to open the gallery each Saturday of their showing period from
1-4pm. Additional showings welcome. Please place the A-frame sign on the sidewalk during gallery open times to alert the public
that the gallery is open. The sign can be found in the Art Space office behind the door. Self-advertisement of your gallery open
dates/times is strongly encouraged.
• Art Space committee members will not be present during Saturday showings, but may be available for questions:

• Artists/show organizers receive a key for the month and may open and sit the gallery at their discretion during the month based on space vacancy. All gallery sitting times must be scheduled on the signed Terms of Agreement contract or by consulting with Deb
Housh at deborahhoush@gmail.com or 767-1107.
PUBLICITY
I. Presenters are responsible for their own local publicity. The YSAC recommends that artists send a press blurb, including show
description, reception and open gallery dates/times, to the following local press sources:
1. Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce Calendar: www.yellowspringsohio.org/calendar ; Click on “Submit an Event”
2. Yellow Springs Arts Blog: email spuggysart@yahoo.com
3. A Yellow Springs Blog: email gunchpress@yahoo.com
4. Artists of Yellow Springs networking ning: ysarts.ning.com ; Become a ning member artist and submit your event.
5. Artists may want to make and distribute their own flyers and/or handbills.
II. The YSAC will send a press release about your show to the YS News and other area newspapers and will create a multi-month
flyer including images and show details. YSAC will also promote your show through the YSAC website and member email list.
VISUAL ARTISTS SHOW HANGING & REMOVAL
• Shows are hung at the beginning of the 3rd week of that month and taken down at the end of the second week of the
following month. (Hanging & take-down is the responsibility of the artist/show organizer.)
• The YSAC requests framed, mounted or otherwise professionally displayed artwork.
• The YSAC requests that artists mount title/price labels near their art OR number work with a reference sheet. An artist statement is also recommended. Other artist promotional materials are welcome.
CLEAN-UP & MAINTAINING THE SPACE
• The gallery must be left clean and orderly at all times. Refer to the Clean-up Agreement posted on the door of the Art Space office. Application for Visual Art Exhibition
The YSAC Art Space Gallery
Eligibility:
The Art Space is available for exhibition by YSAC current members. Individuals may become members with the express
purpose of presenting in the Art Space. All artistic media welcome. Solo or shared exhibits. All work must be original.
Fees:
A $30 artist/individual membership fee is due upon acceptance to exhibit in the YSAC Art Space. No fee to current
members. Each artist exhibiting in a solo or 2-person show agrees to donate one piece of art to the Yellow Springs Arts
Council permanent collection OR a 15% commission on Art Space sales.
Entry Procedure:
1. Please submit 5 images as digital prints or color photographs—numbered and labeled with name, title & dimensions.
2. Please submit images, along with attached application (below). Application materials will not be returned.
3. Artists will be notified about selection and scheduling in a timely manner.
Submission Deadline:
March 15, 2010 for showings in the April-September 2010 season. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis for
the 2011 season.
Gallery Details:
The Art Space Gallery includes approximately 75 linear feet of hanging wall space. Three walls must be hung using
picture rail hooks. One wall may be nailed into directly. Six pedestals are available and artists are welcome to bring
more. For artists with smaller bodies of work, you may request that the YSAC art space gallery representative suggest
an accompanying artists.
Exhibition Details:
Artists are responsible for hanging and dismantling their show, donating a piece of art or sale commission to the YSAC
and hosting an opening reception on the 3rd Friday of the month. Artists are also strongly encouraged to open the
gallery each Saturday from 1-4pm during their exhibition month. See our Presenter Responsibilities Summary for a full

request by an Art Space Gallery representative. All artists must review and sign the YSAC Art Space Gallery Terms of
Agreement prior to showing, also available on the blog.
Submission Process:
