Venice is a place associated with artists.  Titian was born in Cannareggio, Canaletto  and three of my favourite artists Turner, Monet and Whistler all produced a lot of paintings during visits to Venice.

I've visited twice and found endless stimulation in Venice's architecture and canals.  The nature of the place creates a very special sort of light and reflected colour which artists particularly value.

After Monet

For me, Venice is special as it has also provided me with the opportunity to try and understand how Monet painted - although he of course painted with oil paint!  Some of the pieces on this page show you the results of my efforts.
