I was born in Philadelphia, and I grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs. I have drawn and painted since I can remember and always knew that I was an artist. When I was 7 years old, I saw a Van Gogh exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and I knew that I wanted to make art as a career. In addition to regular visits to the museum, I traveled to different parts of the US and Canada, and camped in New England during the summer.

I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Tyler School of Art, majoring in painting, at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. I happily spent my Junior year in their Tyler Abroad Program and campus in Rome, Italy, learning about the art, food and culture. It was amazing to see masterpieces by Carravagio and others in the public spaces in which they were designed to be. I traveled during winter holiday break all around Europe, seeing some of my favorite art in museums, buildings and galleries.

Afterward I lived and worked in Philadelphia until 1997, then Illinois and Washington State, and in 2001, moved to the Boston area where I worked as a freelance artist for the first six years. I have 28 years professional experience in fine art and illustration.

Since 2001, I have drawn and painted many large scale interior murals, private commissions, and illustrations in the Boston area.

Artist Statement

I have studied about and practiced art intensely for my whole life. I look at everything as if I were to draw it, studying the lines and color and the way the light is hitting it at that moment.  I am a great fan of ciarro scurro a la Carravaggio and also of the idea in some Asian art that the goal of the artist is to capture the soul of the subject in a way that the work is the soul or thing and not just a representation. I feel a work is successful when it "sings," or gives off an energy to me, when it resonates "in tune," but also slightly on edge.
