The Annual District Convention was held at The Rio Rancho Hilton Gardens and was a very good event for our members.   There were approximately 100 in attendance including International Vice President Gil Ortiz and his lovely wife.

We were most touched by the memorial service to our fallen Optimist heroes and some long-time supporters. Mae was present to represent our beloved Paul.  We were blessed to have had Paul and the others in our lives.

Joe Loya, current Lt. Governor,  and Skyline Optimists favorite son was elected  by acclaimation to serve as Governor for 2010-2011. Governor-Designate Randy has now prepared his team for next year.  His soaring eagles will be bringing out the best in our clubs. The training was excellent. Thanks Jimmy Angelos, Susan Sears, Sandy Wooten, Cindy Davis, Carolyn Tromer for your time.  Carolyn Tromer gets a high for completing her goals for the year.

Finally, a big "who-rah" for Barbara Snyder for being selected as this year's Curley Roose Lifetime Achievement honoree. Barbara has served her club, zone and district in just about every possible capacity since first becoming a member. Also, she gets a big high-five for completing her goals of completing a very successful Communications Contest for the deaf and hard of hearing at the third quarter meeting.

There were several changes in the District Policies. they were passed by a strong majority of the delegates voting.  The changes will be shown on the district documents page of this website.
