Artist Statement

At Mudworks Pottery, clay is both a material and a conversation. My work is rooted in function. Each of my pieces are ment to be held, used, and lived with while also honoring the quiet beauty of surface, form, and fire. I am drawn to pots that feel timeless and honest, carrying the marks of the hand and the unpredictability of the kiln.

I work both on the wheel and building by hand. This allows each form to evolve through subtle shifts in pressure and movement. Glazes are layered with care and curiosity, often influenced by natural textures, earth tones, and the rhythems of landscape that surround my studio in the Monadnack region of New Hampshire. Wood, electric, gas and alternative firing processes all play an important role in my practice. Each method offers a distinct voice from the precision and clarity of electric firing to the atmospheric depth and variation creaded by flame, ash, and chance.

My goal is to create pottery that invites daily use while offering moments of pause. These objects that feel familiar yet have a special quality. Whether a mug warming your hands on a cold morning or a bowl shared at the table, I hope my work brings a sense of connection: to the maker, to the materials, and to the simple rituals of everyday life.

Mudworks Pottery is both my working studio and a place of learning, community, and exploration. I am grateful to share this ongoing journey through clay with visitors during the Fall Foliage Art Studio Tour.
