Venue:
Joseph Post Auditorium (Conservatorium High School)Collect your name badge at the registration desk in the foyer of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. You will then be taken to the Joseph Post Auditorium.
- The Junior Day is open to players between 8 and 16 years old with a minimum equivalent playing standard of approximately 3rd grade AMEB/ABRSM/Trinity.
- To register for the Junior Day, go to the Registration Page.
- Fill in the online Junior Day Health form at the bottom of this page.
- Parents are welcome to sit in on the Junior Day (no fee).
- Juniors wishing to attend the Junior Day and the Main Festival should call the Open Academy on 02 9351 1209 once they have enrolled in Junior Day to get a discounted price on Main Festival enrolment.
- Juniors under 16 years of age need to be accompanied by an adult if attending the Main Festival. The accompanying adult needs to be registered for the Main Festival (Parent Concession rate).
- Please call the Open Academy on 02 9351 1209 to register as a Parent attendee for the Main Festival.

11.00-11.45 | Fluting Fairytale Explore dynamics, colour and extended techniques A fairytale is narrated and you provide the accompaniment |
11.45-12.15 | Flute Demonstration Flutes weird and wonderful Learn about flutes from around the world, flutes of all sizes and some very unique instruments |
12.15-1.00 | Flutes from the Movies What's it like to be a session musician? We'll get into groups, make a short film and set it to music Learn sightreading tips and play along with some well know film soundtracks |
1.00-2.00 | LUNCH |
2.00-2.30 | Ensembles Buddy up! We'll split into small groups and prepare challenging music to perform |
2.30-3.15 | The Wrong Concert Come and hear professional flute players play the worst concert of their lives! It's up to you to put them right |
3.15-3.45 | Flute Choir |
3.15-4.00 | Parent Session Fife lessons for all - a Festival tradition Parent Q & A followed by their very own group fife lesson. Adults get to see first hand, the challenges of learnng the flute and ask any questions. |
4.00-4.30 | Rehearsal for Junior Concert |
